It's been around 9 months now since I was diagnose with Hallux Rigidus, and this blog is going to be ablut all the issues and hassles and how to deal with them - what is working and what is not - in order to make the most of this very annoying condition. I'm hoping to transcend the Limitus and progress to many Possibilituses.
As part of this Blog, I'd really really like to hear from anyone else out there who also has this condition, and to hear about how you have made it work, and what sort of experiences you've had. So please, keep in touch!
A bit about Me
I'm a 45yo woman, currently single, very active, creative. I've spent my life running around. Although not classically 'athletic' I certainly am fit, and do lots of walking. Being a practical type, I dont' have any patience for high heels, so most of my shoes thorughout my life have been flats, I've never ever owned (or even wanted to own) a pair of classic 'high heels'. At most I've had one or two pairs of wedges and kitten heels for special occaisions.
I'm also adopted, which gives me an interesting position on the whole idea on whether arthritis is 'nature' or 'nurture' - there is absolutely no arthritis in my biological family, however in my adopted family my Mum has disabling Osteo Arthritis.
So, as part of this blog, I'd like to explore a number of issues:
- daily hassles and working out how to deal with it - general gripe category
- medical opinions and 'expert' advice
- advice and information from the web
- shoes shoes shoes - are we doomed to live with clunky horrible aging orthopaedic shoes from now on? - Me thinks NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
